A1 - Governance and Directors Obligations

This course is designed for Directors and Senior Managers of small or large organisations. It gives an overview of Directors’ obligations under Corporate Legislation and other key legislation impacting organisations. It also gives an overview of the duties of Directors and Senior Management as defined by the Australian Institute of Company Directors. The course also briefly looks at requirements of Australian Standard AS8000 Governance, the ASX guidance for Governance and ACNFP guidance.

It is designed to assist with improving how they manage and operate their organisation. It also briefly defines Corporate Governance, Due Diligence and Corporate Social Responsibility. In the time that is available we can only look briefly at these and how to integrate into the day to day activities of managing an organisation. Each participant receives a workbook which includes references for further reading.

A2 - Compliance/Risk, Assurance, Management Overview

Content: Compliance, Risk, Assurance, Management Overview

Duration: 1/2 Day

Fee: $550.00 + 10% GST

This course is an extension of Course B5 and is designed for Directors, Senior Managers, Small Business Owners, Middle and Front Line Managers / Supervisors.

It defines what is involved in compliance / risk assurance management. This session gives an overview of each and how to integrate into the way the organisation is managed and operated. It looks at how these can be used in a practical manner to improve the way the organisation is managed and to demonstrate sound governance. Each participant receives a workbook that can be used as a reference document.

A3 - Compliance/Risk Management Application

Content: Compliance, Risk Assurance Management Application

Duration: 2 Day Workshop

Fee: $2100.00 + 10% GST

This course brings the above courses B5 and B6 together. The course covers Australian Standards AS 3806 (Compliance Program) AS/NZS ISO31000 (Risk Management) & HB158 Achieving Assurance. Participants work through (using a case study) identifying what documents (legal and others) impact an organisation. They also learn to develop a compliance and risk profile (based on the case study). Participants are broken into small groups to workshop the development of these documents. It is designed to give participants hands on experience to effectively integrate governance, compliance, risk assurance into an organisation and to use them as a management tool to improve the way an organisation is managed and operated. It is designed for Directors, Senior / Middle / Frontline Managers. Each participant will receive a workbook and a copy of Australian Standards AS 3806, AS/NZS ISO31000 and HB158.

This course (code B7) along with our External Auditor course (code A2) form the foundations to obtaining our Diploma of Quality Auditing BSB51607 (code A3).

A4 - Planning - Strategic, Business, Resource

This course is designed for Directors, Senior / Middle / Frontline Managers and Key Supervisors. It looks at the various levels of planning, what’s involved and why needed. It looks at how these play a part in achieving effective Governance and how Governance, Compliance, Risk and assurance are linked to the planning process. It also looks at how to convert the various plans into a living document which gives each level in an organisation clear applicable and achievable direction. It looks at how these should drive the business and be part of Management/Directors meeting agendas.

Plant Management

This briefing looks at what is required to ensure any plant used in a workplace is safe and is maintained in a safe condition. It covers obligations as defined in the Workplace Health & Safety Legislation. Plant covers anything (man made) that we use to assist us in doing our job e.g. welders, grinder, computers, ladders, forklifts, photocopier, conveyor, grader, truck, lath etc. Workbook is provided.

 

B9 - Workplace Consultation & Communication

This course is designed to look at the process of risk management and how to apply from a health & safety perspective. It defines what the legislation requires and when you need to apply. It gives sample templates of documents (Participants are encouraged to bring their own organisations documents as well). Participants will work through some risk assessments. This is a hands on workshop. Each participant is encouraged to bring an activity from their workplace that can be used to conduct a risk assessment. Each participant will receive a copy of the WHS Qld Code of Practice – Risk Management and Workbook.

C17 - WHS Management Plans/Work Method Statements

C19 - Electrical Safety Requirements

C20 - Ensuring Safety - Manual Task Management

Will look at legislative requirements and how you can reduce manual task type injuries. It covers the body functions and how manual work can impact the body in the short or long term. Each participant will receive a copy of the WHS Qld Code of Practice – Manual Tasks, a copy of Seton Go Safe Booklet – Backs and a workbook. It is a very practical workshop.

C21 - Ensuring Safety - Plant Management

This explores the employer’s primary obligation to provide a safe work environment. It will look at the hazards and associated risks in all work places and more specific workplaces that may impact the health (physical, social, mental wellbeing) of the individual in the short and long term. It will briefly look at legislative requirements for lead, asbestos, noise, harassment / bullying etc. It will look at how to measure the level of exposure, how to eliminate or minimise exposure. C25 - Ensuring Safety - Design/Planning Stage

C27 - Ensuring Safety - Contractor Managment

This is an extension of course D30 ‘Ensuring Safety – Procurement’ but looks at more detail of contractors obligations and how you need to manage these critical suppliers to your business. We will also look at labour hire and the implications on your operation. Many believe it is the contractors responsibility when in actual fact when they are on your workplace you have the primary obligation to ensure that their activities do not impact your employees and others. This extends to ensuring that their activities do not make your facilities, electrical installations, plant unsafe. Workbook supplied.

C28 - Ensuring Safety - Compliance

C30 - Ensuring Safety - Emergencies

C31 - Workplace Health & Safety Representative

They are designed to assist employers meet their primary obligation of ensuring health & safety through risk management and the provision of safe systems of work; safe work environment, plant; information, training and supervision to ensure safety. Each course will have a simple assessment and practical activity.

Workplace Health & Safety Representative

This will look at employer’s obligations, the representatives roles and entitlements and how to make effective use of representatives. We will include inspections and how to carry out and how to carry out investigations. We also cover the key requirements of legislation. This course is designed for any one elected as a WHS Representative. Managers / Supervisors can also attend. Each participant will receive: Seton Go Safe Booklet – Investigation, extensive workbook. We would encourage each participant to bring a copy of their organisations procedure relating to role / responsibilities of WHS Representative.

This is not the mandated training an elected WHS Representative has to undertake. The compulsory course is a five (5) day course that is Nationally recognised. We can deliver this under license of another RTO that is accredited to deliver the course.

C32 - Workplace Health & Safety Committee

Duration: 1/2 Day Workshop

These series of half day workshops are designed for Directors, Senior / Middle / Frontline Managers and Supervisors. They are designed to update, increase understanding and assist participants (in a practical way) in meeting obligations. If a participant attends each one they will obtain an extensive knowledge of the legislative requirements. Each course is designed as a stand alone but are linked. They are designed to assist employers meet their primary obligation of ensuring health & safety through risk management and the provision of safe systems of work; safe work environment, plant; information, training and supervision to ensure safety. Each course will have a simple assessment and practical activity.

Workplace Health & Safety Committee

This course will give an overview of the key requirements of these three pieces of legislation. How an employer (Directors, Managers, Supervisors) can effectively meet the requirements. There will be time for discussion and questions. An extensive workbook will be provided.

D33 - Business Continutity

Content: Business Continuity

Duration: 1/2 Day

Fee: $500.00 + GST

This course will look at what Business Continuity is and how to effectively plan for and ensure business continuity after an emergency. This is directly linked to and a part of Corporate Governance, Compliance / Risk Management. It will look briefly at the Australian Standard on Business Continuity. Participants will receive a copy of the Australian Standard HB221 and a workbook.

D34 - Understanding Quality, Safety, Environmental Management

Content: Understanding Quality, Safety, Environmental Management

Duration: 1/2 Day

Fee: $550.00 + GST

This course will look at the principles and concepts of quality, safety and environment management systems. How an organisation can integrate these into their day to day activities. How the requirements relate to their product / services, facilities, processes, work environment and staff. How compliance and risk management is at the centre of quality, safety, environmental management systems and how you can use these processes to reduce the impact on the quality and safety of your product, safety of your staff and sustainability of the environment. Look briefly at the requirements of the Australian Standards (ISO 9001, 14001 and AS/NZS 4801). How these indirectly relate to meeting your obligations under Trades Practice, WHS, Environmental Protection Legislation. Workbook provided. This is designed for Managers, Supervisors, Staff etc.

D35 - Incident Investigation

Content: Incident Investigation

Duration: 1.5 Days Workshop

Fee: $770.00 + GST

This involves going through looking at (in general) legislative requirements to report, record certain types of Incidents (cover e.g. Environment, Health & Safety, Electrical, Harassment etc.). Briefly covers legislative requirements for “Notifiable Incidents”. It then goes through the investigation process, questioning technique, qualities of good investigator, things not to do, how to gather / record evidence, defining purpose and scope. It covers basic communication / listing and observation skills. It assesses and confirms understanding and competency through group activities, written (simple) assessment and a desk top investigation.
